I Am A Nerd: gaining knowledge and enjoyment in pop culture
**New Episode Every Wednesday**
I always tell my son "Back in my day, it wasn't cool to be a nerd" I remember having to hide comics from friends in your locker, getting laughed at because we knew what happened on the latest episode of Power Rangers, or getting in trouble for missing the bus because we were watching Ronin Warriors. Now a new day has dawned and I can stand up with the masses to yell "I am a Nerd". Join us in the celebration of nerdy things old and new as we share our excitement with our like minded peers and you.
I Am A Nerd: gaining knowledge and enjoyment in pop culture
Don't call it a comeback, I've been a nerd for years Ep. 2
In this episode of 'I Am a Nerd,' host Direct Edition reunites with fellow nerd enthusiasts to reminisce about their journey from creating The Direct Edition comic reviews to the present iteration of the podcast. The discussion weaves through various topics, including the significance of nostalgia, personal and emotional connections to comic book series, memorable moments from their convention travels, and the evolution of their media initiatives. The group also dives into the impact of specific comic book storylines, new reading recommendations, and potential future podcast formats. They conclude with a heartfelt acknowledgment to all past members and significant other supports.

They told me they were gonna keep doing what they were doing. But they didn't tell me it was gonna still have the direct edition name attached to it. See that? That's why I have a bra. Yeah. We should have set something on fire. [00:02:00] So it happened a few more times and I heard it and I had a conversation with that person.
I was like, Hey, you know, you're gonna have to nip that in the bud. You know, I'm not, I didn't sign off on that, and if I'm not there, then I can't let you carry the torch like that. No, it's not the direct edition if none of us are involved. So that went by the wayside.
Then around that time, that's when you YouTube's kicking off. People are starting to work more with video. So I had the idea, Hey, do that. Let's do YouTube videos. Let's do that. we did a couple of those with, uh, wicked. We did reviews. Actually quite a few. We did quite a few. We did. Um, wicked was more like our product reviewer and he handled a lot of the action figure and he definitely had a following to the point where he was great.
We, we, we met so many people through that. And even, [00:03:00] um, one of the toy designers we had went out to San Diego one time and he was like, oh man, you guys are such and such and you guys just missed the rest of the toy designer creators. And, you know, they're coming back at such and such time. They all want to meet, you know, 'cause they, some of 'em have watched your videos.
I'm like, well, shit. Damn right. That was another moment that kind of blew me away. 'cause you're doing, videos and mostly you're doing it for you. Yeah. You want to get your opinion out there. Or at least that's what it was back in the day.
It wasnt this. And some people like it, they like it. They don they don't. Right. And it wasn't a lot of what they call clout chasing nowadays. Yeah. It was just, Hey, I like this. I'm gonna share my passion with everybody else. Pretty much. Yeah. And, and Wicked was golden on that. Oh man, man, he was, I kid you not Wicked was golden.
We have some good videos. I'm not gonna lie. It was some great stuff. I gotta say all of my memories of the direct edition usually is the comedy that Wicked. Oh yeah. I enjoy talking about comics. I love talking about toys and collectibles. We can, we can talk [00:04:00] about movies and stuff, but you get wicked going and that's just a, that's just a, a time.
My favorite is when he talked. He did that puppet we're talking about sauces, that green puppet. No, not that puppet. When he did it was, uh. Uh, he just went off and he had this little puppet that he did this little thing, man, it was hilarious. I swear, I'm telling you, wicked may be the funniest person I've ever met.
Oh, hands down. Hands down. I mean, y'all. All right. Don't get me wrong, y'all, y'all cool and all, but wicked. He got, I'm not even claiming that title. Wicked. Wicked got, you know, could make f You money on the state, you know? Yeah. On tour. Yeah. He can, the, the Wicked got me when he always had his opening to the videos, and they're still up on YouTube today.
You can go back and, and, and check 'em out, where he'd always come up with a different phrase to the video. Where it was, Hey, it's your boy Matt Wicked, and we're gonna give you a, a mosquitoes testicle of, [00:05:00] of information today. And it's like, I'd be recording behind the camera and every single time he'd come up with something, you'd see the camera shake on my head because I'm laughing so hard and I can't keep it together.
And we couldn't afford a tripod at the time, so, you know, no, we could not, sir. You are absolutely right. No, we could not. And I mean, it was just, and then the nicknames that he'd come up, oh man, it was like, it's Hell's Ice Cream man named Wicked, I, I'm telling you that cat make mad monies. So, and we went from there.
We did more videos when I started, uh, putting together the home studio. Like I said, I wasn't knocking anybody's home studio. 'cause you know, we'd been there, been there, done that. We did that for a while. And then we got into the streaming aspect of it where we tried to, well, not tried to, but we did run a few games on the end, uh, I remember Do Work was playing Mad [00:06:00] Max.
Uh, that was like the very, one of the very first streaming video game wise that we had was do work playing Mad Max. Oh yeah.
So I had a question earlier, uh, and I, I don't have a pen to write it out, but we were talking about like the comics from back in the day that we picked up and, 'cause I, I was gonna see some book recommendations from you guys as far as today, but, uh, as far as the comics that you've used to read back in the day, and if those same series are going on today, uh, are you still reading them and like how do.
Can I go first on this one? Go ahead. Outstanding. He's already locked and loaded. Locked and loaded. Well, it's, it's a kind of a personal issue for me because like I said, my first experience with comics was GI Joe. Yeah. And that's what kind of led me into joining the military. And recently I've had a lot of issues we'll [00:07:00] say.
And one of those issues is that I didn't feel agency over my own likes and dislikes. Mm-hmm. And once I realized that, and I started to, to address those, and I figured out what the, the actual problem was, GI Joe became another focus, a refocus for me to take back that agency. Yeah. So it's not only been about comics, but it's been like a, almost like a, uh, an emotional journey as well.
Yeah. Because. Reading those books from back then, and it's continuing on today, now it's gone through three different publishers. It has, but it is still alive. So being able to collect that comic from then to now and it's still going and being able to bring that back into my life has been really beneficial for my own wellbeing overall.
So that's a easy, easy peasy. The GI Joe and the, and the inner John universe where they've restarted the [00:08:00] transformers under the Skybound label at Image Yeah. Has been really a, a real boom to me personally, not only creative, not only enjoyment, but actually as an emotional tool as well. Yeah. So that's, that's my take on what's going on and how it affected me.
All right. I, I mean, and I get that too. I was like, uh, you should, you wanna jump in or you want me to go. Uh, you can go. Yeah, he's formulating. You saw all the smoke. You said that like I had an answer already for something. Well, I mean, because here's the thing I'm trying to, um, get back into it. 'cause I used to love X-Men back in the day and Transformers and over time as comics evolved and, you know, Avengers and Captain America Green Lantern and, uh, was it Nova?
There was one of, they're like my favorite Charact. Yeah. Um, and over time I wasn't, [00:09:00] became a fanboy over, I don't know, maybe I fanboyed over some direction of how certain writers would treat certain characters and I just wasn't happy with the ideas that they were running with. So I stopped reading comics for a while because to me, I, I don't agree with changing a character because you can to. The fiddle mold instead of creating new characters and making them, and then writing stories to that, that allows them to grow and flourish into, into, to fill the, that niche that you wanted to fill instead of changing another. But as, as time digressed, I decided to just get back out there, see what's out there, and read what's happening.
'cause some ideas have come out that I thought there were some interesting things like the House of X, that was a recent idea mm-hmm. That I liked. So, house of 10. Yeah. I've been reading. 'cause uh, I thought that the, uh, idea of more McTaggart becoming, I mutant who resurrected was an interesting concept.
So that was one reason why I went back, to reading that. Um, but yeah, I've always stayed with [00:10:00] Nova, captain America and, okay. Sorry. I was gonna say it's interesting. That you say that you didn't like those characters that fit that particular need, that those writers wrote characters to fit that particular niche in mode.
Because I felt like that's exactly what they did with Moira McTaggart when they introduced her as the Resurrection. But like all these years that she's been a human the whole time who helped the X-Men and because they needed, I call it, I can see that I call it shock jock storytelling.
I can see that. 'cause they, they, where they do it to get a reaction, out of the fans or, or something along those lines. And, and I agree, and sometimes that does happen. Sometimes they change a character just to fit a particular mold of, of what's currently going on. That's fine. And, and we all have our opinions on that, but you also have to realize that as new writers come into these stories that have already been established.[00:11:00]
And you have these characters that have been around for 50, 60, 70 years. 80, 90. Yeah. In certain instances, at some point you have to kind of refresh a little bit to make 'em relative relevant for today's time because if you picked up a 1970s X-Men is going to be different from a 2025 X-Men. Oh, absolutely.
'cause there are different things happening in the world and we, whether we like it or not, the outside world will always be reflected in these stories because that's where we're taking inspiration from in, in, is writers. Writers and storytellers and, and artists that are taking inspiration from what they see around them, making them fantastic in their mind and then putting them back out.
But this is really just a reflection of. Who we are as human beings. I, I see. And I agree, but I, I just as a writer, 'cause as a writer myself, 'cause I, when I'm trying to creep my, I don't want, like, don't take a shortcut to try to get [00:12:00] from playing. And I, and I completely understand, but like I said, you're dealing with characters that have 50, 60 years of history.
But to keep them almost relevant to the time today, you, you're gonna have to switch 'em up a little bit. Sometimes you do. And, and they, you see, and we're not talking about major, major changes and we all know exactly which change we're all talking about. Right. But you don't have to do that all the time, but you're going to have to update these charact, you're gonna have to refresh a little bit.
And I thought Macon Moore, uh, uh, a mutant was an excellent idea because she has no purpose otherwise. If she does, I mean, she's a great scientist. She was as of the, say she was a mother of Legion, blah blah, Legion blah. This, yes. No. Yeah, no. Legion was the mother of some, uh, some Israel one.
He was, she was the mother of the other guy. Uh, Proteus. Proteus. Proteus. Okay. Now, whatever. You don't think that that stuff was kind of tacked on, eh, a little bit, but now she is being viewed in [00:13:00] her own right as a mutant. I, I'll give 'em, they did it in an interesting way and how they did it, I thought was very interesting.
Yeah. Couldn't know she's a mutant until she had died. Yeah. I hear you. I hear you. You're like, you're trying to convince me. It, it felt like the magic reset button for me. That was a way for them to, to explain all the convoluted timelines that they've been through. But that's the great thing about it, is you can have your interpretation of Yes.
What they're doing. Yes, sir. Yes. Uch, and you can have your interpretation. I have my own interpret, and that's why we come together in this format, in, in comic book shops or online or whatever, is to talk about how these things are being perceived by. Us individuals and coming together as a community. I mean, that's really what we are Yeah.
As a community, because we find a common interest, a a common theme, a common goal, whatever. But we come to share those perspectives and not everybody's perspective is gonna be the same. So that's why we kind of do what we do here. [00:14:00] Yeah. And Jewish and Juchen, I remember you like leading me to a lot of science fiction Yeah.
Related stories and like you mentioned Green Lantern and because I picked up Green Lantern when they started doing, uh, rebirth Yeah. Re when they brought back Hal Jordan. Mm-hmm. And they branched off with the yellow cord. Yep. The blue mentors and all of the, the other, the rings, the war of the Rings, the blackest night, the brightest day.
I was some good storyteller. Yeah. That really was. I, and I, I never. Read through Nova, but I remember you introduced me to, uh, dark Hawk. Dark Hawk. I love Dark Hawk. You are the only man in America I know that. Ever read Dark Hawk? Absolutely. The only two. No, he didn't say he read it. He said he liked it.
You're the only one I ever knew that Ever read that. Just saying. But uh, I remember you introducing me a lot of the science fiction side of the Marvel Universe is what I was gonna say. And, and the DC Universe. Yeah, with Greenliner. Um, but where [00:15:00] were we with the, the history of directors? We was, we had gotten a video, we started streaming and
um, it was like, like all the way up until that, you know, outside of that we were going to conventions. Yeah. We were having our fun. It was like What moments sticks out to you guys as far as a. It doesn't have to be pivotal, but a memorable moment that out when we were doing the Spinner rack, back when you were mentioning, we were writing the Spinner Rack Uhhuh.
'cause we were doing, we took the spinner rack to, uh, MegaCon and then we took it to Heroes Con. Mm-hmm. 'cause we had boots further and further. So Jeez, Z remembered that, uh, 'cause he, used to take a nap under the table because we, we had a end cap table. Mm-hmm. We had, we had each written our own book.
Yeah, I know what you talking about. We had each written our, we each written our own books. We had our own comics, and then we had produced our own comics and then we also had the, the spinner rack out there. And we were passing the spinner rack like it was Kenny. We had like, so many [00:16:00] copies out. So Jeezy gets up from his nap, goes to the restroom, and he comes back.
He goes, dude, that was cool. He goes, somebody, he goes, I saw somebody, uh, reading the spinner rack in the bathroom. That's how you know you make it. That's, that's a vindication right there. We were making bathroom reading material vindication right there. That's, that's one of them. Look, my, I made it moments, you go in and somebody flipping through the spinner rack.
uh, the whole deal for me, I mean, you're talking about memorable mo I mean, there's been so many memorable moments there. I guess the thing for me is just the, the feeling I get from doing this and hanging out with you guys is that, when you think about going through the world and, and there's a lot of, interests here and there and da, da, da, da, but when you find the people that are, your people, your tribe, that, that feeling right there, is probably the one for me.
Yeah. You know, doing this, talking about comics, talking about our interests, you know, that's, that's what it is [00:17:00] for me because, we can all read comics and sit there and. Just read and da, da da da. It's, to me it's the, the discussion. Yeah. It's different. Yeah. That's my, that's my most memorable. We have many good, we have, uh, a bunch of conversations.
Sometimes we're called dumb asses in a lot of cases, A lot of, but yeah, it's the conversations. Yeah. The ones, it's those moments when you're laughing so hard that you can't breathe or your side starts hurting and you're sitting there like, please stop. And you just, and you know, wicked won't stop. No. You know, wicked won't stop.
But that's, and that's the thing about it though. We all bring in a certain aspect of , does his like personality or, or the human condition in and of itself, uh, wicked is, is comical left and right. Uh, you know, Jeezy, I've never seen anybody more committed to comics. Than, than Jeezy.
Information. Information on comics. Yeah. Things about comics, how comics work, this and that. I've never seen anybody like that. Yep. Even into the financial side of it. Oh yeah. [00:18:00] Even to the financial, it's the top 40 how many times? The reprints and the, the variance and the you with juice. And I've, I've surprised that you haven't written your own books before because the amount of detail that you can just spout off on any type of situation makes me believe that the writing that you can do and come up with just is phenomenal.
You know, direct edition is, you know, you're always prepared and you're always ready to, to talk about not just the what's going on in comics, but what's going on around comics. Oh yeah. Has always been interesting to me. So, you know, you know me, I'm gonna look some shit up. Do work's, got his do work's, got his, his, his one liner.
You know, every time, every time you say something, you got one liner ready for you, you know? So. That's, those are the things that I enjoy the most. I remember. Uh, well you, 'cause you mentioned do work. I remember if you go back and look at the [00:19:00] intro on the YouTube videos mm-hmm. Do work was driving me crazy.
Insane. Because when we would go to conventions, I would bring my camera and I'd take a picture of like the cosplayers. And there was one particular MegaCon that I was taking pictures of, of, of cosplay and Oh God. And we went through the whole day and I'm taking pictures and I'm taking pictures, I'm taking pictures.
You know, there was a night crawler here, there was, there was a white queen over here, you know, and I'm taking pictures, taking pictures, taking pictures. We get home. It was, it was on my digital camera. We get home or back to the Airbnb or the hotel, wherever you were staying at. And I go to look through the pictures and I, let's say I took a hundred pictures.
And in 98.9 of them do work, was in the background looking directly at me. And I'm like, this motherfucker, [00:20:00] I got, I got the perfect thing. You want, you want to, oh man, you wanna put that out there? We'll collage it all up and say, where's do work? Here, here, here, here, here, here. Oh man. I was, I, and I was like, how did I not notice as you were explaining that, I remember.
And I started, I, I was trying to hold back. I could not stop laughing. I was like, how did I not notice? And then we did the video, we put together the intro to the direction on YouTube. And you can see him, you, there's a shot of night crawler in there. Yeah. And do work is like in the background. And he is always got the same expression.
Always. This cast made a stone. I don't know what it is, but he always has the same expression and he drops that one liner on you. Oh man. I'm like, God damnit work.
So we continued to direct edition on with the, some video. We all [00:21:00] came, you know, lifey life. And so we, we all stepped away separately. And now it came to this new iteration of I Am a Nerd. And that's kind of like how we went from the Spinner Act, which was a, a publication of, of stories and interviews that we were putting together all the way up through audio to video to, to what we're doing now.
And I kind of feel like I don't see any signs of stopping. 'cause every time I've tried, I've, I've started over again in some iteration or form. And, it need that creative outlet. You know, and it, it just so happens that I can convey that with the passion for, for comics that we have, you know, comics, video games, all other nerd stuff, and find like-minded people to discuss it with.
So I Guess we're gonna start finalizing this and, and wrapping it up I know we talked about like the difference between, comics we read back in the day up until [00:22:00] this current time. Any book recommendations from you guys?
Uh, for me, I would go with the new Justice, uh, JSA. Okay. I like that book. Um, the Ejo Universe, once again, I'm really thrilled. And that's a, that's a thrill out to, uh. Wicked. If it hadn't have been for him, I wouldn't have even gotten into the inner John Universe on the transformer side was getting ready to quit it.
And he said, you gotta read this. And I did. And it's turned out to be one of the best series that I've ever seen out of the Transformers, uh, stable. So, and, um, I'm still reading the GI Joe, still reading it. And Juchen, I know you're just getting back into it, but is there anything that you pick it up that, uh, you wouldn't mind recommending for anyone out there?
Um, the all in Batman, superman, green Lantern, uh, be in the Flash. 'cause there are different stories of your absolute Oh, you're talking about the absolute of the absolute, I'm [00:23:00] sorry. The absolute Batman. Absolutely. You know, Superman because they're basically new tales, stories of these characters that we've known for so long and they're told with a different slant or, you know, something different.
You know, Bruce Wayne doesn't have his money, you know, uh, and Superman. Is he came here now, uh, as a, as a teenager, not as a kid. So, and his power works differently. It's crazy. I, I like the, the difference to, to the storytelling. So I was like, and it makes the stories they tell, uh, interesting. On top of that, you know, Lois Lane is, uh, is a, a, uh, soldier.
Soldier, and then Alfred is a, is a mercenary. So yeah, it's, it is crazy what they, what they, uh, turn everything upside down. So I would say get out there and read that, see what's new. Yeah. That's very enjoyable. Ila, I enjoy it as well. And for me it's you. I've always been an X-Men fan. Uh, I've always liked the diversity that the X-Men portrays.
So I'm, I'm still reading X-Men [00:24:00] Today. Um, but one unexpected book I would recommend is, uh, power Rangers Prime. Oh, okay. And, uh, VR Troopers that just hit and, uh, this came out like. A month ago. Last. Last month. About last month, yeah. Yeah. So Empowerment's Prime is, is not the, the candy coated, flashy suit TV series.
Right. That, that they released for, for kids. You know, this one, it is the ZOS race has occupied Earth. Oh. And they, they've brought all types of, of aliens and technology to earth and Power Ranger. Power Rangering has been outlawed. Oh, wow. Okay. That's different. And the one way that the, you know, and there, there are people who are refugees from other planets and they're trying to figure out what's really going on.
And, you know, all of the, the alters that Doorknobs raised Yeah. They're like, you know, there's nothing to see here. We're the good guys and, and shit like that. Mm-hmm. [00:25:00] And the one person that they had to turn to, to get their abilities was, uh, Rita Raposa. Oh. Okay. So that was a heck of a twist for me. And, and then they really tossed it and shook things up.
Yes, they did. And then the VR troopers were the ones, if you remember the, the old TV series, the VR troopers are the ones that, the elite group that hunts down. Anybody that's a power ranger that, wow, that's okay. Definitely gotta pick that up. So to wrap this all up, tie this all up in a bow
um, is there, it's, it's noted most of the time it's, it's never pretty like a bow, let's just be honest. But we get it done anyways, so, you know, so is, are there any questions that, that you guys wish that I had asked that I didn't ask? Or anything that you wanted to ask me?
I give you a second to think about that questions. Mm-hmm.
All right. Time [00:26:00] up. What's, what's our next topic? Yeah. What's our next topic for the next cast? Well, the next topic we haven't, we haven't figured out. I think we gonna do a little, not really reorg, but restructuring as far as, uh, how podcasts, how the podcasts have going. Because a weekly one, I, I feel isn't very sustainable.
Sustainable. I agree. Until we get to a point. So I, I, I think we may do, uh, a 45 minute, you know, every other week. Okay. And then have it as a, a series, so where it can bookend. Okay. And then that'd be second series, and then move on to the next series. Cool. Um, or a season like the, the next would be season two, and then along those lines, and season two would have however many episodes.
12 or 24 or however many decide and then move on to the, the next season. Cool. [00:27:00] So anybody out there listening, if you guys have any suggestions, yeah, please send them to us because, you know, we always like to talk about the things that you guys are interested in, not just what we're interested in. So, um, just, uh, real quick, gotten back into going to different 'cause, uh, different cons.
'cause I, again, I've been locked into Megan Kahan for years. Yeah. And, uh, just recently went to Heroes this year and it was a, it was a nice change of pace. Yeah. So, and seeing all the comic books and just, you know, you know, seeing different, the different venue for the first, you know, I know you've been a proponent of going to different places for a long time, so Heck yeah.
I'm like, okay, I gotta get back. He, he finally bought in on it basically. Basically I'm buying in now. I'm like, you know what? I've realized long time ago that I, I, only thing I'm here for is just plant the seed. Just plant seed and then let it grow on its own. You know, it grew, it grew cr, it grew cricket, however long it may take to, it's a rotted, maybe it's not getting enough water, [00:28:00] maybe it's not getting enough sunshine.
I'm gonna admit maybe it's not getting enough plant food. There was no water involved in it. Growing. Yes.
But yeah, I, I, I plant the seed. Hey, I went this, I checked it out, it was cool, and I just leave it. What are you thinking about, uh, con, wiser? Are there any kinds of the year, uh, that you're still looking into that you would write the seed this year? Um, or next year? Next year. I'm gonna have to say next year.
'cause life was lifeing this year. And I haven't gone into, I haven't gone to many conventions. Uh, we even, I think we even missed MegaCon this year. And that is one that's usually a staple for us. Not to, to delve too deep on the personal tip, like with the accident and you know.
Yeah. The oldest one going off to college and you know, like I said, life has been my right, it's life. But one they two that are on my bucket list, I'll say this. Two that are on my bucket list are New York [00:29:00] ComicCon and C two E. Okay. So Chicago, um, Chicago Comic Entertainment Expo and New York Con. I wouldn't mind going to Chicago.
I really wouldn't. I actually would love to go to Chicago. We ain't getting into this again. We are not doing this again. You know why? Because I'm close to the border and I can go to Canada, just bring my passport. I got a passport. See, we can go to Canada. I gotta put it to you. Somehow we can go across the border.
You know, it's actually quicker to get from. New York to Canada than it is from Chicago to Canada. Man, don't rain on my parade. Okay. That's what I'm here for. I'm dream killer. This a dream, dream killer. That's all you do. That's what I'm here. I a dream. I'm just saying let's, let's think realistically here, because I would like to go to New York as well.
I've never been to New York. I would like to go see New York's Comic-Con, would love to, would love to go to Chicago as well. You know, been to, to California. We've been say Diego. Diego, yeah. But New York [00:30:00] and Chicago. Those are the, I guess, two biggest ones that I want to go and experience. Mm-hmm. Yeah, I mean, I've even looked for a few over overseas and out of the United States.
You know, there's a Brazil that's supposed to be claimed to be bigger than New York and, and, uh, claim to be bigger than San Diego. And, uh, there's also one in London that is, uh, pretty popular. That'd be pretty cool in itself. So, yes. Yes, I have. Um, and we definitely wanna look about going into back to Hero's Con next year.
'cause like Chen said, it was a great time. Yeah. It really was. Yeah. Because it's, it's so comic focused. Exactly. It was 85% comics, 15% the rest of the junk. Yeah. And, and nowadays everybody, when it comes to conventions, you, you almost gotta start doing your research now. You never know what you're gonna get.
[00:31:00] And it was like, everyone wants to take the title of Comic Con. Oh yeah. Everybody wants to do Comic Con and it is not really Comic Con, a Comic Con, you know? Yeah. There's a difference between Comic Convention and Comic Con. Yeah. So, and, and it's like you see a lot of them pop up. You remember back in the day, there used to be, uh, wizard World.
Yeah. Wizard World, comic World. Yeah. A convention. I remember World. Yeah. Yeah. I, I went to a few of those. Um. I think I did like Wizard World. I think you got Texas, some of my uh, um, Michael Turner stuff signed at the Wizard World in Texas. Yeah. Yeah. We did Wizard World, Texas. What was, was that San? We did San Diego.
I say we did San Diego a few times. Wasn't there Wizard World in Seattle or Oregon? I think it, it was a West one. A west Coast one. But I remember they, because at one time they were throwing out like four shows. Yeah. And then I remember doing South, I think it was Wizard World South that was in Texas. [00:32:00] Um, and you said Seattle that brought another one?
Uh, Emerald City. Comic City Con, yeah. Al City Con. I wanna check that one out too. So, but um, if you have anything, what's next for you guys as far I know ju you mentioned writing and Yeah, I'm, I have a story that I publishing. I'm just working on fund, uh, paying out the fund so I can get it out there in the air.
So, it'll be the start of a series, so, okay. Looking forward to that one. Yeah. Yeah. It's been a long time coming. Yeah. Yeah. And zero, right now, I'm still in the middle of consolidating my collection and seeing where I'm at, but my main focus is to be involved with our production as much as possible.
Okay. So I need to learn some more things about the technical side, do some more of the, uh, production side of [00:33:00] what we're doing here. Same. So that's, that's kind of on my plate. And me, I, I always have so many fires burning, you know, I don't, it's amazing that I, I keep 'em all lit, but, um, yeah. More podcasting to pick my streaming back up to.
Even maybe put out a board game by next, the year, the end of next year. Hmm. So, like I said, so many fires lit, but it's that creative outlet that keeps me going. Gotta say it's admirable that you have it because, you know, let's be honest, if it hadn't have been for you, we wouldn't be here today. Oh, stop.
You've kept, kept the torch going so well done, sir. Yes, y'all would. We just wouldn't be in front of a microphone. We'd be sitting, sitting, we'd still be talking shit out in the parking lot, you know, I'd be asking him, why is he smoking in this heat, you know? Yes. Thank you for keeping the torch net for us.
I do what I can. I do what I can. So before we go ahead and get outta here, any last words? Yeah, let's shout out the old, [00:34:00] uh, yes. All of our old members Jeezy, mad Wicked, uh, do work. Smooth Eggs, cash, cash. Everyone that, that could make it up here make, like we said, life, be lifeing so we get it. But yeah. Um, still family at heart.
Yes. Yeah. Always fellow cast members. Um, it was do work. It was wicked, it was dirty. CG Z, cash, cash, a k, a smooth eggs. Um, I don't think I'm forgetting anybody. No, not at the moment. I, I even throw dirty d nasty in there. Oh, alright. If look at you. Oh, well if you're gonna do that, you know, you know Churchill as well.
Churchill. Churchill. And he's now, uh, uh, looking to, to get back out here. I mean, 'cause he, when we saw him at the recent, um, first Coast Con First coast, the local one? Yeah. Yeah. He said he's a, he's like, he's looking at coming back out and hanging out, you know, and spreading his wings again. 'cause he's just gotten tired of.
Being cooped up. Yeah. I mean, [00:35:00] don't forget to think your significant other, because without her your shit wouldn't happen. I wasn't going that far. You ain't gotta tell her nothing. I was like, dude, damn, you going too far, man, you doing too much. Not just to shout out to my significant others, but all of our significant others that, that rode this wagon into the, I was gonna, this dragon, I was was gonna say, putting, putting up with all of our, our pro habits and clutter is Oh yeah.
What they probably see it as, but without them and the understanding and the, and even even them jumping on board with a, a few of the ideas and the series that we've read, you know, it's like, like you said back in the day, it, it was frowned upon and like to have somebody that close to you to just not, not necessarily push, but encourage you to keep doing what you're doing and.
Not slighted in any type of way that speaks volumes. Absolutely. [00:36:00] So if you've got a significant editor there that, uh, encourages you to be a nerd or do it your own thing, may tell, hold onto them. Hold onto 'em and tell 'em thank you. Give 'em a hug from the direct edition. Give, don't
Okay. Give him a hug from I'm a nerd. Too far. No. Slow down. I didn't know who Direct Edition was giving out. Free on. I'm not kidding around to sign. I get, I can get him a t-shirt, I can get him a t-shirt and I signed tomorrow. I'm sure you can. Sure. You got a guy. All right, so we gonna go ahead and get outta here.
